We are thrilled to announce that our CEO and co-founder, Chintu Parikh, will be presenting at Book Expo America, an annual, 3 day event that takes place in New York from May 30th – Jun 1st. Chintu will be a BEA speaker at the uPublishU event on June 1st and will also be doing a lightning demo at the IDPF Digital Book Conference. 

BEA features a variety of different events and people, including 1300+ exhibitors, 500 authors, Author Stages, and new titles. Authors, illustrators, and publishers come from all over the world to learn about the latest technology, media and publishing rights, newest books, and more.  

We are especially excited about the Digital Discovery Zone, brought by IDPF, that is taking place this year at BEA. As more people are “going digital”, it is becoming increasingly important to understand the eBook revolution and what it means for authors, illustrators, publishers, and more importantly, readers.

It’s been about three weeks since KiteReaders joined 500 Startups’ Spring 2013 batch in Mountain View, California.  If you don’t know, 500 Startups is a Silicon Valley seed fund & accelerator founded by PayPal, Google, YouTube, and Yahoo! alums.   

The driving force for us to join 500 Startups was the strong sense of shared values and beliefs between 500 and KiteReaders. Specifically, here are three reasons:

1. 500 encourages females founders and family tech.

One of the defining aspects of KiteReader’s founding team is that it is dominated by females. In addition, KiteReaders’ primary customers are children’s book authors and publishers, parents and children, and librarians and teachers, making it a family tech business.

2. 500 supports diversity.

The KiteReaders team is diverse and open to working with both new and established authors and publishers from around the globe to serve readers everywhere. Having invested in over 35 countries (and growing), 500 Startups is a big believer in openness and diversity. 500 has funded more international startups than anyone else in the history of entrepreneurship.

3. The #500strong community.

While it has only been three weeks at 500 Startups, the KiteReaders team is happier and more productive than ever before! With access to the extensive 500 network, our team has had the incredible opportunity to work alongside international batch mates, meet with the knowledgeable 500 staff, mentors, and partners, and connect with the 500 Startup viral community via its Dashboard platform.
